Amy P. Blume is a partner with the law firm of Bershtein Volpe & McKeon P.C. She practices in the areas of commercial and residential tax appeals, commercial and civil litigation, commercial and residential real estate, land use, and general business law.

Ms. Blume’s experience in commercial and civil litigation includes breach of contract actions, collections and bankruptcy. In addition, a large portion of Ms. Blume’s litigation experience involves real estate issues including tax appeals, foreclosure, summary process, condemnation appeals, and land use. Ms. Blume is experienced in pre-trial motion practice in state court and has tried many tax appeals and commercial cases to judgment.

Ms. Blume worked in the public sector as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the City of New Haven for five years prior to joining Bershtein Volpe & McKeon P.C. The majority of her work with the City involved the representation of the tax assessor in the defense of Tax Appeals.

Ms. Blume has experience in appellate practice. She has written numerous appellate briefs and argued before the Connecticut Supreme Court on behalf of the City of New Haven and prevailed in a landmark decision permitting municipalities to include its collection costs incurred in hiring a collection agency to collect a delinquent tax, as part of the tax debt.

Ms. Blume also has extensive experience in commercial and residential real estate. She has represented clients in a wide variety of real estate transactions including sales, refinances, purchases and leases.

Ms. Blume is a member of the National Association of Property Tax Attorneys (NAPTA). She also serves as a Special Master in Connecticut Superior Court for tax appeal matters.

Ms. Blume is admitted to practice in Connecticut in both state and federal courts. She received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island in 1985 and her J.D. from Quinnipiac College School of Law in 1988.
